5 Meters. Pinned. One Arrow | Australian Goat Bow Hunt

5 Metres. Pinned. One Arrow. | Australian Goat Bow Hunt

Midway through their hunting adventure at Nyora Station in Queensland, Australia, Chris teams up with Jürgen — our favourite New Zealand hunter — as he attempts to take his first Australian animal.

But there’s a catch… Jürgen is bow hunting, and he’s not even using his own bow.

What follows is a series of challenging stalks through some seriously exposed country as we try to get within bow range of wild Australian goats. At one point, Jürgen gets to within just five metres of a goat, crawling, sliding and working his way through long grass in an attempt to get the perfect shot.

Bow hunting demands patience, stealth and a completely different approach to hunting with a rifle, and this hunt puts all three to the test.

After several close encounters, the final stalk of the afternoon brings us closer than ever to a big black billy goat. Jürgen finally gets an opportunity — but his arrow only just misses, skimming the goat’s back and literally shaving the hair off him.

It’s a hunt full of close calls, frustration, patience and plenty of laughs… and once again, the Australian bush proves that nothing is ever guaranteed.

Join us for another adventure from Nyora Station as we continue hunting some of Australia’s wildest and most challenging game.
